Urban Products & Furniture

Service: Project Management, Business Development
Client: The Steel Yard
Completion Date: December 2005 (ongoing)

Peter Eiermann helped create a line of for-profit urban products for The Steel Yard, a Providence, RI based non-profit arts center. The goals of the urban products are to earn income that helps supports the creative community by employing local businesses and people, educating Steel Yard students and community members about the commission process and opportunities, encouraging stewardship and community pride, and subsidizing the Steel Yard’s other community programs, such as free industrial arts courses for local youth.

In eighteen months Peter Eiermann managed the planning, development, marketing, fabrication and installation of a variety of locally-produced urban products. Currently 62 trash cans receptacles have been installed in the City of Providence. 9 treegaurds and 12 bike racks have also been installed in parks and on the streets of the City. Past and current clients in Providence, RI include: Wickenden Business District Association, Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council, Providence’s Downtown Improvement District, Millhaus LLC, Struever Bros. Eccles and Rouse Inc, and Smith Hill Community Development Corporation.
