Smokestack Project Public Art

PUENTE, the non-profit developer of The Plant in Providence, RI, is committed to meaningfully engaging the community in all of its endeavors. A smokestack on the property provided the opportunity for a large-scale public art piece to signify and celebrate the building’s new life and engage the local creative community. Local sculptor Gillian Christy submitted the proposal that was ultimately chosen.

Sally Struever managed the process of writing and distributing the Request for Proposals, collecting submissions, coordinating the Selection Committee and communicating with the artists. Sally was also responsible for fund-raising including developing the project’s budget, writing grants and developing a sponsorship strategy.
